Meditation today in my opinion is one of the keys to a healthier mind. Let me begin by saying I’m not, and I don’t claim to be an expert in meditation. The visual stimuli alone we are bombarded with via our smart phones, TV screens, computer screens, and other mediums is enough to cloud the mind with what I call “mind chatter.” If you think I’m wrong, try closing your eyes now and focus on one thought and watch how your mind starts to race in every direction. It’s impossible to control, unless you work at it. Every mind needs a reset button for rest and refocus. I know one way this can be accomplished is via proper meditation.
Over the past week, I tried unsuccessfully to write a song, and each time I found my mind racing. The cares of the world and the worries of life sneakily worked their ways into my mind chatter. Just like a flower cannot blossom when choked out by weeds, the mind can’t focus or create when mind chatter chokes it out.
I’ll encourage you to begin spending some time daily quieting the mind chatter through meditation. We are constantly being bombarded with stimuli that we are slowly becoming robots. Find some quiet time everyday to meditate on peaceful, positive, uplifting truths and affirmations. Watch the wonders it does for your health, spirituality, and relationships. Over the past two days, I’ve done the same, and I feel the creativity coming back, and the chatter lessening.
Keep making good music the soundtrack to your life!

Confucius says “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Looking back on a very successful and busy 2014 year, I can’t help but appreciate that statement. Being a full time musician is an arduous task that involves tons of traveling, setting up, breaking down, rehearsing, emailing venues, calling contact persons, paying this person, paying that person, forgetting to pay yourself, and the list is endless. However it never felt like work, as the final product, whether it was a recording or live performance, was always worth it.
2014 has been an amazing year for the Nelly’s Echo family, as we achieved many milestones, and met most of the goals we set for the year. We recorded a music video, recorded an EP (Which will be released in early 2015), played great shows all over the country, made tons of amazing fans, and spread positivity and good vibes everywhere we went. This was possible because of the never waving support of our loyal and ever growing fan base. From me Nelson, and the Nelly’s Echo family, THANK YOU for always being there for us, and we promise to keep you enlightened. We also promise to continue to make you proud of us with future endeavors.
Speaking of future endeavors, we can tell you we’ve got some big plans for 2015. I plan on resuming fan dedication videos where I record a song based off fans experiences they wish to turn into song. There will be original songs and videos, which we can’t wait to share with you. We have tons of great shows already lined up for the 1st half of 2015 and we’ll keep you informed about them as we go along. There are some cool surprises, which for obvious reasons we can’t share 😉 Stay tuned!
Enjoy the rest of your holiday. Eat and be merry. Make your new years resolution to hit the gym as a new years resolution. Break your resolution come Feb 2015, but never forget to continue to make good music the soundtrack to your life. From your favorite African elevator music provider, here’s to a great 2015.
