So far so great…

Let’s see I’m really irate now as I type this for the 2nd time because the first time while trying to edit, I selected all and mistakenly deleted my whole post arrggghh! To make matters worse, I only type with 2 fingers, while the others point and laugh. Anyway, I had to post this tonite because my manager challenged me to write this today with an incentive of a whooping lobster dinner hehe.

The college tour is going great so far, and I feel blessed to be able to share my music all over the country, blessing peoples lives in the process. Special memories and bonds already have been made with the different staff and students I have come in contact with. Here’s the scoop so far.

This past week I had 3 shows. 1 show solo and 2 with my main man Daniel Booker aka Boom! I started solo at Thomas More college on 1/24/11 and was picked up by a security car. I sat in the back and became well acquainted dog hair in the back seat which I eventually came to realize belonged to Tom. Tom is the cute and spoiled(cos he gets rub downs n treats wherever he goes) dog who was rescued from the pound, and was hired to chase geese I believe off school property. I envy Tom for such a great job. Ashley my contact with the school was fantastic, and boy does that gurl have so much on her plate. More power to you my dear. The show went well, and off I flew for show numero dos.

That would be U of Maine Farmington which was hella cold with a side order of mucho snow. Esther and her crew were so hospitable and nice that Boom and I didn’t want to leave. The show was magical, and man was I distracted by that couple making out in the back. Nelly’s Echo music is baby making music and I approve that statement. U of Maine Farmington Rocks! The climax of the evening was when we were interviewed by a radio station in school called the fornication forum. Enough said bout that and moving on.

Last stop was Colby sawyer college which had amazing people like Brittany and Briana B&B and the rest of their crew. Daniel and I introduced ourselves as the other person to B&B just to mess with them, and as our punishment, we were housed in the school guest mansion which was haunted. Daniel and I while in the house kept comparing our skin colors to see who was darker. The black guy, or blacker guy in our case would go first like the movies. I was blacker, but the ghost spared me because I was cute…they said it not me.

The show was amazing, and we took some blackmail worthy pics, and gave some uncomfortably long hugs after the show. The highlight of the night was at dinner with some of the students. Daniel broke out the never before seen shark dance move that will soon sweep the nations. I lost 1.25 pounds from laughing so hard. Hey Colby, you owe the world a youtube video of the shark attack.

I write all this to say thank you all so much for giving this boy with a guitar and a mic a platform to speak. I’m no better than the other musician (even though I have to die for biceps), I’m just blessed to be doing what I do now. The shows continue to come fast and furious and I hope to connect with people via melody. Do me a favor music lovers, and make good music the soundtrack to your life. God bless you all.

Secrets to a happy life college tour begins…

I couldn’t have asked for a better 1st 2 shows to begin my “Secrets to a happy life” tour. I walked in Memphis TN on 1/19/11, and danced in Hartsville South Carolina on 1/21/11.

University of Memphis was one beautiful school with a fantastic crew that catered to us. Heather our contact person was full of positive energy and Memphis lingo which gave Chuck the mad ox and I several good laughs. Brianna n the rest of the crew made the whole show run smoothly and without a flaw and I’m forever grateful for that. I was taught a new dance during the performance called the “cook.” I still don’t have it completely down, but by the next time I return, I’ll have it mastered. Chuck and I went Ham (Memphis lingo for going hard) on our performance, and the students had a great time.

Coker College, Coker College what can I say? From the flight in, it had memorable written over it. Long story short, I flew in to Hartsville SC with Daniel Booker with the connecting flight at Charlotte NC. Our flight out of Charlotte was first delayed and then eventually canceled after we had boarded robbing us of 5 hrs. It was 2pm at this point, and we found out that the drive to SC would take us 2 1/2hrs. Sound check was at 6:30pm btw! To further worsen matters, no rental car companies had branches at our location which meant we had to either catch a shuttle or rent a cab. 300 bucks and a cab later we arrived at our hotel at 6:15pm yipikayee!

The show at Coker was magical. The students were fantastic, and the sound guys were spot on. We had a blast with a very interactive and engaging crowd. Shout outs to my man Josh, my home gurl Jessica, Lisa, Caitlyn, Sam, the Sarahs, Kris(hahahaha sprinkles), Devin, Ashley and to the rest of the crew whose names escape me now. After the show, Josh, Jessica, Kris, D Booker and I went to Applebees for some much needed grub. All I’ll say is SPRINKLES KAMIKAZE(Kris u made my day).

We got back to b-more today even though we almost missed our flight because we, Josh n Jessica included were having a casual conversation after breakfast at Ihop 40mins before departure. Talk bout loosing track of time. Josh you are one crazy driver!

2 down and many more to go. Connecting people one melody at a time is what Nelly’s Echo is about. Thanks for making my dreams come true and till we sing and dance again, continue making good music the soundtrack to you life.
