Confucius says “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Looking back on a very successful and busy 2014 year, I can’t help but appreciate that statement. Being a full time musician is an arduous task that involves tons of traveling, setting up, breaking down, rehearsing, emailing venues, calling contact persons, paying this person, paying that person, forgetting to pay yourself, and the list is endless. However it never felt like work, as the final product, whether it was a recording or live performance, was always worth it.
2014 has been an amazing year for the Nelly’s Echo family, as we achieved many milestones, and met most of the goals we set for the year. We recorded a music video, recorded an EP (Which will be released in early 2015), played great shows all over the country, made tons of amazing fans, and spread positivity and good vibes everywhere we went. This was possible because of the never waving support of our loyal and ever growing fan base. From me Nelson, and the Nelly’s Echo family, THANK YOU for always being there for us, and we promise to keep you enlightened. We also promise to continue to make you proud of us with future endeavors.
Speaking of future endeavors, we can tell you we’ve got some big plans for 2015. I plan on resuming fan dedication videos where I record a song based off fans experiences they wish to turn into song. There will be original songs and videos, which we can’t wait to share with you. We have tons of great shows already lined up for the 1st half of 2015 and we’ll keep you informed about them as we go along. There are some cool surprises, which for obvious reasons we can’t share 😉 Stay tuned!
Enjoy the rest of your holiday. Eat and be merry. Make your new years resolution to hit the gym as a new years resolution. Break your resolution come Feb 2015, but never forget to continue to make good music the soundtrack to your life. From your favorite African elevator music provider, here’s to a great 2015.
I’ve done it again! I’ve waited till the last minute to go Christmas shopping. Did you? My excuses are endless and sometimes valid, but the real reasons are my affinity for procrastination, and sometimes my failure to plan ahead.
Actually, I could extend those excuses to my whole life. Procrastination and failure to plan ahead is one thing I know I share in common with the general population. I know this because of the Christmas week people traffic at shopping malls from last minute shoppers…like me!
So my New Years resolution will be to STOP procrastinating TODAY by planning my day and week out on my little note pad. I’ll have 3-5 attainable goals for the week with action steps, and I’ll check them off as I go. This way I can motivate myself and hopefully come next Christmas when most are getting their last minute shopping done, I’ll be sipping gleefully on my eggnog. Wait, I don’t even like eggnog! Let’s make that a German Riesling.
